Our Story
KOMERA Original was founded in Winnipeg, Manitoba in May 2019 with a simple but powerful goal: to create a hot sauce that delivers real heat, real flavour, and a meaningful connection to culture.
The founders, originally from Burundi in East Africa, brought with them a deep appreciation for bold, vibrant flavours rooted in African cuisine. The name KOMERA comes from Kirundi, a language spoken in Burundi. It is both a greeting and a verb, meaning be strong, be courageous, be brave, be healthy. It is a word grounded in resilience, energy, and life, and it perfectly reflects the spirit behind the brand.
What began as a personal pursuit quickly became something much bigger.
In search of a hot sauce that truly met their standards, one that balanced heat with depth and flavour, the founders realized it simply did not exist in the way they envisioned. So they created it themselves. What started in their own kitchen as a solution to a personal craving quickly turned into something people could not get enough of.
Family and friends began asking for more. Then they wanted to buy it. That moment marked the beginning of KOMERA Original.
Today, every bottle is produced and bottled in Manitoba using clean, simple, easy to pronounce ingredients. No unnecessary additives. Just honest flavour, carefully crafted to elevate everyday meals.
KOMERA Original is more than just a hot sauce. It is a versatile staple in the kitchen. Whether added to meat, mixed into sauces, or used to bring a bold kick to dressings, it transforms simple dishes into something memorable.

Notre Histoire
KOMERA Original a été fondée à Winnipeg, au Manitoba, en mai 2019, avec un objectif simple mais puissant : créer une sauce piquante qui offre une chaleur authentique, une richesse de saveur et un véritable lien avec la culture.
Les fondateurs, originaires du Burundi, ont apporté avec eux une profonde appréciation des saveurs audacieuses et vibrantes de la cuisine africaine.
Le nom KOMERA provient du kirundi, une langue parlée au Burundi. C’est à la fois un verbe et une salutation qui signifie sois fort, sois courageux, sois brave, sois en santé. C’est un mot ancré dans la résilience, l’énergie et la vie, qui reflète parfaitement l’esprit de la marque.
À la recherche d’une sauce piquante à la hauteur de leurs attentes, une sauce capable d’équilibrer intensité et profondeur de saveur, les fondateurs ont réalisé qu’elle n’existait pas comme ils l’imaginaient. Alors, ils l’ont créée eux-mêmes. Ce qui a débuté dans leur cuisine comme une réponse à un besoin personnel est rapidement devenu une recette dont on ne pouvait plus se passer.
La famille et les amis en redemandaient. Puis, ils ont voulu en acheter. C’est à ce moment que KOMERA Original est née.
Aujourd’hui, chaque bouteille est produite et embouteillée au Manitoba à partir d’ingrédients simples, naturels et faciles à reconnaître.
KOMERA Original est bien plus qu’une sauce piquante. C’est un incontournable en cuisine. Que ce soit pour accompagner les viandes, enrichir des sauces ou relever une vinaigrette, elle transforme les plats les plus simples en expériences mémorables.
Et la réaction est presque toujours la même :

Depuis ses débuts à Winnipeg, KOMERA Original rejoint aujourd’hui des clients partout au Canada. Elle est disponible en ligne surkomera.ca ainsi que dans certains points de vente au Manitoba, en Alberta et au Québec.
Nous avons choisi de faire une chose, mais de la faire exceptionnellement bien. Une seule saveur. Une sauce signature. Créée avec intention, enracinée dans la culture, et conçue pour apporter force et caractère à chaque repas.
